Ready to bring a little handmade magic to life? Let’s crochet together…
Bring a touch of soft ocean magic to your crochet collection with the Amigurumi Fluffy Baby Whale Free Crochet Pattern designed by the talented Marina Kolmykova (dailydoll.shop). This adorable project is easy, beginner friendly, and perfect for anyone who enjoys creating charming animals with a “step by step” approach. The finished whale measures approximately 13 cm, and its warm, cozy look comes from using fluffy yarns such as Katia Air Alpaca, Schachenmayr Fashion Soft Mix, Semenovskaya Lada, and similar options. In this pattern, the head, body, and tail are worked as one piece, while the fins are sewn on for a clean, polished finish. You’ll also knit a tiny baktus scarf with 2 mm needles, adding extra personality to your handmade whale.
To get started, gather simple tools like a 1.3 mm crochet hook, 5 mm safety eyes, soft stuffing, a decorative button, and a pet brush to fluff up your yarn. You’ll also need yarn for the knitted baktus, a yarn needle, and scissors—everything you need can be purchased here. Whether you’re new to amigurumi or looking for your next relaxing, creative project, this fluffy whale is a joy to make and display. A heartfelt thank-you to Marina Kolmykova for sharing this cute and cozy design, and don’t forget to check the end of the pattern for more beautiful amigurumi whale ideas to inspire your next creation.

Assembly
Sew the fins to the body with a hidden seam (approximately between rows 27 and 34). Ensure they are level.
Brush the completed whale with a metal bristle brush to create a fluffy texture. Brush in all directions: left to right, right to left, bottom to top, top to bottom.
Attach the eyes (approximately between rows 20-21). Sew eyelids so they partially cover the eyes. Weave in yarn ends.
Embroider the mouth line.
Tie the cowl around the whale’s neck. Add small decorative details if desired to give your whale character.
Stitch Terminology Note
All stitches in this pattern have been adapted to standard English crochet terms (US terminology) to ensure clarity and consistency.
